the people of britain
The people of Britain hold true to many of the stereotypes that have been said about them over the years. British people tend to be reserved, extremely well-mannered, and avid tea drinkers. British people tend to be quite shy and don't like to make conversation with those around them as much as people from other cultures. When they have to strike up conversations, they usually tend to only talk about the weather they are having that day (Bartley). Some people might try to peg British people with the more negative stereotype of being rude or stuck-up, but this is the one stereotype that is not entirely true. Many British people are truly just shy, so they tend not to be as friendly and talkative to strangers as people in other countries are (Bartley). British people are also very reserved about public displays of affection, as even a married couple will rarely be seen hugging or kissing in public (Morsy). Also, the British are taught to say "please," "thank you," and "you're welcome" at a very young age, so many of the people are very well-mannered. The most common stereotype of the British that is very much true is that they drink a huge amount of tea. Each British person on average drinks 876 cups of tea per year (Goorwich).
the CHALLENGES of britain
Many of the challenges facing Britain are in large part due to Brexit. Ever since Britain announced that they were going to leave the European Union, their economy has been suffering for it. The most major economic problem in Britain is inflation. Inflation has not been as high as it is now since 2013 (Martin). Also, the value of the pound is plummeting compared to the US dollar, and consumer spending is decreasing (Martin). In addition, the unemployment levels in Britain are predicted to increase. Businesses will be less likely to make investments in Britain because of the uncertainty of what Brexit will bring to the British market, and companies may transfer their British branches back into the single market of the European Union (Pettinger). It may take some time for these challenges to be overcome, as the Brexit transition still will not be finalized for a while.
The beauty of britain
The thing that makes Britain stand out in beauty is its breathtaking and awe-inspiring buildings and architectural designs. The most beautiful aspect of Britain to me is the multitude of castles and the British history that has been preserved through them. With hundreds of castles, people come from miles around to take in the rich history and the magnificent design that each one has. One of the most beautiful castles in Britain is the Windsor Castle. The Castle is one of the oldest in the world, with parts of it dating all the way back to King Henry II in 1154. This castle is still used by today's royalty, as Queen Elizabeth II uses the castle for entertaining on the weekends (Says). Another one of the most beautiful castles in Britain is the Bodiam Castle. It is a Medieval fortress (with steep towers and even a moat) that Richard II had built after the 100 Years' War to guard against French invasion (Says). One of the other most stunning castles is Warwick Castle, originally built by William the Conqueror in 1068. It was originally made of wood, but was rebuilt with stone in the 12th century, and then again renovated in the 14th century (Says). Each castle not only has a beautiful design, but also has a beautiful history with stories of the past built into it.
